The Irish Draught Horse
 
Irelands draught horse dates back to Norman times when imported horses were crossed with smaller native animals. Later crosses included Andalusian, to produce an allrounder, suitable for riding, pulling a trap or working on a small farm.

Now renowned as a heavyweight hunter, and crossed with the thoroughbred to produce quality hunters and competition horses.
Origin: Ireland.
Colour: Bay, brown, chestnut and grey.
Height: between 15 and 17hh.
Conformation: neat head, on strong, short neck, powerful body, strong legs, large round feet.
Character: sensible, willing, docile.
Uses: hunting, cross-breeding.
